EDMONTON - Alberta hosts Western Canada's largest fashion event. Western Canada Fashion Week. TransAlta Arts Barn (September 13-20). 

NEW YORK - Fashion Week of the "Big Four" kicks off in New York showcasing Spring/Summer 2013 collections. Nicholas K, BCBG Max Azria, Richard Chai and Japan's Tadashi Shoji are among the first to show at Lincoln Center. Newcomers include actress Katie HolmesMercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Lincoln Center (September 6-13). 

HELSINKI - Helsinki Design Week. Helsinki Design Week is an annual city festival for design in all the ways that design appears in our lives. Events are happening all across the city and can be about traditional and industrial design, fashion, communication and music. Old Customs Warehouse in Katajanokka (September 6-16).

PARIS - Paris Design Week. Launched in September 2011, 100,000 French and international professionals will descend on Paris to draw inspiration from the latest trends at showrooms, concept stores, but also cultural venues, galleries, design studios, hotels and restaurants, which embody the city's creative dynamic. Various locations (September 10-16).

ROME - Fashion's Night Out. Join editors, stars, models, fashionistas, as they flood stores across the city. Various locations (September 13).


Anna Karenina. Set in late 19th-century Russian high society, the aristocrat Anna Karenina enters into a life-changing affair with the affluent Count Vronksy. (UK release: September 7; US release: November 9; Toronto opening at TIFF: September 7, 8).
